The Differentiating Factor:

Six dedicated days on Mull, not a whirlwind Scottish tour. This pace allows proper time for white-tailed eagles, coastal otter tracking, and dramatic landscapes. Expert knowledge of Mull's conditions plus boat access to Lunga for puffins creates opportunities impossible on day trips. Small groups mean personalised guidance and positioning that larger tours cannot offer.

A Photography Expedition with Purpose

What sets this tour apart is the way it balances planned, high-value shooting opportunities with flexibility. On Mull you’ll enjoy long sessions dedicated to otters along the coast, exclusive time on a private boat charter for White-tailed Eagles, and an immersive walk and boat visit to Lunga to photograph thousands of seabirds including puffins, shearwaters, shags and gulls.

This trip is constructed around wildlife behaviour and seasonal rhythms, not rigid sightseeing checklists. In fact, we only have two things scheduled - the White-tailed Eagles and Lunga. The mood of the Hebrides, its changing light, dramatic landscapes and the sounds of sea and wildlife, becomes part of your imagery and inspiration and we will go where the day takes us.

What You’ll Photograph

Mull’s wildlife is varied and photogenic, and on this tour you’ll focus on subjects that reward patient, thoughtful photography:

  • Eurasian otters in freshwater lochs and along sea lochs, often in playful or fishing behaviour, photographed across multiple sessions.

  • White-tailed Sea Eagles, Scotland’s largest raptor, on a private three-hour boat charter for close, natural behaviour shots.

  • Atlantic puffins and other seabirds on Lunga, with opportunities to capture seabird life in dramatic cliffside contexts.

  • A mix of other species including Red Deer, Short-eared Owl, Golden Eagle, Grey and Harbour Seals, and (if you’re lucky) dolphins or basking sharks.

Every outing offers different light and backgrounds, so you’ll be encouraged to think about composition and narrative, not just subjects. We also have time to play with settings, experience a variety of weather conditions and the ability to adapt to situations quickly.

Field Learning & Personal Guidance

Throughout the tour, you’ll be led by experienced wildlife photography hosts who are skilled at both finding subjects and advising on technique, composition and fieldcraft. We have been coming to this part of Scotland for ears and have gained immeasurable experience throughout our time here. Here's a taste of what you'll get:

  • Practical, real-time support with camera settings, exposure and autofocus for fast or unpredictable moments

  • Guidance on crafting images that show behaviour and context, not just records of sightings

  • Tips on working with sea and landscape, handling reflections and dramatic skies

  • Personal feedback to help you return with stronger, more meaningful photographs

This blend of local insight and photographic mentorship elevates ordinary wildlife watching into a creative, confident photographic journey.

Why This Trip Is Unmissable

The Isle of Mull truly is a wildlife photography destination within the UK, where subjects, scenery and seasons align to create unforgettable images. It's beautiful out here!

With a private boat for eagles, dedicated otter days, seabirds on rugged islands and the rich acoustic and visual tapestry of the Hebrides, this tour offers variety, intensity and photographic reward in one complete package.

Whether you are chasing your first otter image or refining your approach to birds in flight, the combination of location, timing and expert guidance makes this one of the most compelling wildlife photography experiences in Britain today.

If you’ve ever dreamed of photographing otters at play under Scottish skies, majestic eagles in flight, and seabirds against dramatic coastal backdrops, this is the tour to make that ambition a reality.

The Famous Otters of Mull

The Isle of Mull is renowned as one of the finest places in Europe to photograph wild Eurasian otters, and for good reason. Here, otters are active along the sea lochs and rocky shores throughout the day, often fishing, grooming and interacting in open view. Generations of protection and minimal disturbance have allowed these animals to behave naturally, offering photographers rare opportunities to capture intimate moments at eye level against dramatic coastal backdrops. Working slowly and respectfully, you can observe otters at close range as they move through their territory, creating images that feel both authentic and deeply personal. For many wildlife photographers, Mull’s otters are not just a highlight, but a defining experience.

Discover one of the richest wildlife destinations in the British Isles. This tour combines dedicated wildlife sessions ashore and by boat with expert guidance, giving you the best chance to photograph otters, white-tailed eagles, puffins and more in natural, dynamic settings. It is a purposeful photographic experience, designed around wildlife behaviour and the light that reveals it.
