Why This Norway Workshop Is Different
Photography Outcomes, Not Just Sightings
This is a photography-first hide workshop with every session being structured around helping you make better images, not just observe wildlife.
Unlike trips that simply place you in front of subjects, here you’ll learn to:
• Anticipate eagle and hawk behaviour
• Work compositions that include context, light and motion
• Manage exposure in snow and cold conditions
• Turn fleeting moments into sequences worth sharing
Your professional photographic host will be with you throughout to support technique, framing, and artistic decisions.
Heated, Purpose-Built Hides for Better Photography
You’ll spend your photographic days in premium hides designed for comfort and image-making:
Heated interiors to keep you focused on the shot, not the cold
Two different hides. A choice of forest or field hides for varied backgrounds and behaviour
Close, natural encounters without disturbance the birds which remain wild
This gives you access to powerful raptors in their natural rhythm — without crowding or forced action.
Subjects You’ll Photograph
Your main targets include:
Golden Eagles. These guys are big, majestic and stand out wonderfully dramatic against snowy terrain
Goshawks — fast, agile and expressive in flight and perches
Other possible winter wildlife like crested tit, bullfinch, red squirrel, sparrowhawk and more may visit the hides. More common visitors like European Jay and Hooded Crow give us countless opportunities. These species offer a mix of portrait opportunities and dynamic behaviour moments against winter’s clean, graphic landscapes.

Workshop Rhythm & Photographic Focus
We spend all our daylight time in the hides. Getting to the hides before daybreak and leaving after sunset, allows us to enter and leave under the cover of darkness and hence we will not disturbing the birds or affecting their natural behaviours.
The pace is relaxed and informative with plenty of time to get to know each other and to discuss photographic and wildlife topics. There will be discussions and tips on gear for the cold, shooting in snowy conditions, technical and artistic approaches
In the evening we have a hearty home-cooked meal and review the days activities with input and advice from your photographic host
In-Field Teaching & Post-Processing Insight
Beyond the hides, you’ll also receive:
Technical session early in the workshop — settings, sequences, techniques
Post-processing demonstration — how to refine snow shots, retain detail and mood
This ensures your images don’t just capture the moment but tell a story you can share.

Who This Workshop Is For
This experience is perfect for photographers who:
Want to make stronger bird images, not just tick species off a list
Appreciate patience, light and seasonal mood in their photos
Seek personal guidance in a small group (max 3)
Enjoy creative wildlife photography beyond typical safari tours
Beginners to experienced shooters are welcome. As mentioned previously the pace is flexible, although generally quite relaxed, and the coaching tailored to your skill level.
What You’ll Leave With
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:
A curated set of images showing natural raptor behaviour
Stronger confidence shooting in snow, cold and with hides
A greater understanding of the need for wildlife hides with certain species and what it takes to run and maintain them
Techniques you can use specifically with birds but also with other wildlife and wildlife photography in general
A deeper connection to seasonal landscapes and subject matter

Experience the stark beauty of Norway’s winter wilderness and capture breathtaking images of golden eagles, goshawks and other raptors against snowy landscapes. This workshop goes beyond observing wildlife, teaching you to photograph with confidence, intention and creativity from comfortable heated hides while working with light, background and behaviour to produce images you’ll be proud to print or publish.
