Track musk ox across snowy Arctic tundra. Winter light, frosted coats and dramatic mountain backdrops create powerful, atmospheric images of this Ice Age giant.

Summary
From the rugged mountains to the vast tundra, Norway is home to the elusive musk ox - a must-see for any nature lover
Basic Itinerary
What To Expect
Group Size: max 6 participants, 2 Guides
There are 2 large cabins, each with a kitchen, lounge and bathroom. This trip is restricted to a maximum of 6 guests. A small group allows for a more personalised and intimate experience, and we will rotate amongst all the participants as much as possible, so that everyone can get the shots they really want.
Where we meet:
Oslo Airport, Gardermoen
What to bring (this will not be provided by your host)
Your photographic equipment - check recommendations
Any medication you may need for the duration of the tour.
We will be hiking in snowy mountains so please bring warm and suitable clothing. There is a section below that indicates what we expect you to be able to bring (please check)
Optional: Binoculars
NOTE: You will NOT sleep on the mountain. Each day we hike back to a comfortable bed and home cooked meal every night!
Walking during the workshop
We envisage to be walking for 2-3 hours every day, some of which may be steepinclines and over uneven terrain. Therefore, a reasonable degree of fitness is required.
Transportation and Parking
Transfers between the airport (Oslo) and the cabin is included in the cost of the trip. Furthermore, transportation around the hides and venue (where possible) is provided. We don't envisage that any other transportation may be required, and there is no need for you to hire a vehicle yourself.
Food
A wholesome dinner is planned every night. Breakfast and lunch is a little more flexible and usually a packed lunch and a quick breakfast will be the order of the day.
IMPORTANT: Any allergies and special requirements will need to be advised and arranged prior to departure.
Photographic Experience
Whatever your knowledge and experience, you are welcome! All levels of photography are catered for.
IMPORTANT
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any wildlife photography tour or workshop arranged by Focused On Wildlife (or our partners). Please ensure you have a comprehensive policy in place before departure. We recommend choosing a reputable provider you already trust, with cover that includes medical emergencies, cancellations, and delays.
Equipment Insurance
Your camera gear is one of your most valuable investments. On our tours, you may be travelling into remote and sometimes unpredictable environments, where accidents, loss, or theft can occur. It’s essential that your photographic equipment is properly insured before you travel.
Wildlife photography often involves capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. By insuring your kit, you’ll have peace of mind that, should the unexpected happen, you’re protected financially. This allows you to stay focused on what really matters: immersing yourself in nature and bringing home unforgettable images.
