This is simply the best place in the world to photograph the Artic Fox

Summary
The Arctic fox, one of Iceland’s most fascinating and resilient animals, thrives in the harsh winter landscape, blending perfectly into snowy surroundings. This photography tour gives a rare chance to observe and capture these wild foxes amid Iceland’s frozen tundras, rugged coastlines, and remote valleys. Suitable for beginners and experienced photographers, the trip teaches essential skills for tracking, approaching, and photographing Arctic foxes in their winter habitat.
Basic Itinerary
Day 1 - Travel to Reykjavik Airport, Iceland
We will choose to either stay in either Reykjavik or in Ísafjörður, whichever makes more sense for our trip.
Days 2 - Transfer to Hornstrandir
Our hosts will collect us from the domestic airport in Ísafjörður and we will then transfer to Hornstrandir via boat. Trip starts no earlier than 11 AM in Ísafjörður. Once on the island, we will unpack , make ourselves comfortable and may have an evening of photographing foxes.
Days 3-5 - Full day of photography
This is what we came for! Lots, and lots of Arctic Fox photography. The Arctic foxes at Hornstrandir are known for being curious and fearless, which can lead to closer encounters. They may approach photographers, offering an extraordinary opportunity to capture intimate portraits or action shots. These foxes often have beautiful fur coats, which change color with the seasons, making each photograph unique.
Day 6 - Departure from Hornstrandir
The same as yesterday except that we also leave the island today. Pickup time is no later than 2 pm. We then overnight in Ísafjörður or Reykjavik.
Day 7 - Return Home
On this final day of our trip, we depart the magix country of Iceland and make our way home. If time allows we may be able to photograph some landscapes, but this is not guaranteed.

IMPORTANT
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any wildlife photography tour or workshop arranged by Focused On Wildlife (or our partners). Please ensure you have a comprehensive policy in place before departure. We recommend choosing a reputable provider you already trust, with cover that includes medical emergencies, cancellations, and delays.
Equipment Insurance
Your camera gear is one of your most valuable investments. On our tours, you may be travelling into remote and sometimes unpredictable environments, where accidents, loss, or theft can occur. It’s essential that your photographic equipment is properly insured before you travel.
Wildlife photography often involves capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. By insuring your kit, you’ll have peace of mind that, should the unexpected happen, you’re protected financially. This allows you to stay focused on what really matters: immersing yourself in nature and bringing home unforgettable images.
