Summary
India is a land of immense biodiversity, home to the world’s largest population of wild Bengal tigers, which roam freely across a range of forested habitats, from dense jungles to grasslands and mangroves. These iconic big cats share their environment with a wide array of wildlife, including leopards, sloth bears, as well as over 1,300 species of birds and a variety of reptiles like king cobras and crocodiles.
Basic Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & First Safari – Nagpur to Tadoba
Upon your early morning arrival in Nagpur, you’ll be met by our friendly ground team, who will assist with your luggage and ensure a smooth transfer to your hotel for a well-earned rest. After a 5–6 hour break to recharge, we’ll depart for our journey to Tadoba National Park. You’ll be picked up from the hotel and travel in comfort via air-conditioned vehicle to your lodge near the park.

Later in the afternoon, we embark on our first tiger safari — a thrilling opportunity to track and photograph your first tiger(s), along with other captivating and photogenic wildlife that call this region home.
Accommodation: Lodge near Tadoba National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Airport transfer, lodge transfer, tiger safari
Day 2 – Full Day Exploring Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
Today is fully dedicated to exploring the incredible landscapes and wildlife of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. Our primary focus will be tracking and photographing the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger in its natural habitat, but Tadoba offers much more than just tigers.

As we journey through the reserve, you’ll have the chance to encounter a rich array of wildlife. Common mammal sightings may include langurs, nilgai, barking deer, blue bull, spotted deer, gaur (Indian bison), and sambar. With a bit of luck, you may also spot more elusive species such as leopards, chinkara (Indian gazelle), flying squirrels, sloth bears, dholes (wild dogs), striped hyenas, small Indian civets, jungle cats, or even a rare chausingha (four-horned antelope).
For bird enthusiasts, the park is home to over 195 species — from water birds and raptors to rare and endangered species — making this a paradise for wildlife photographers of every kind.
Accommodation: Lodge near Tadoba National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning and afternoon tiger safari
Day 3 – A New Safari Perspective & Optional Cultural or Birding Activities
This morning, we embark on another exciting tiger safari — this time entering the park through a different gate, offering a fresh perspective and new photographic opportunities compared to the previous day.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to relax at the lodge and unwind, or, for those eager to explore more, we can arrange a cultural visit to a nearby village or a local birding excursion for a change of pace and scenery.
Accommodation: Lodge near Tadoba National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning safari and optional afternoon activities
Day 4 - Full Day Exploring Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
Similar to Day 2, today is fully dedicated to exploring the incredible landscapes and wildlife of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
Accommodation: Lodge near Tadoba National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning and afternoon tiger safari
Day 5 – Leisurely Journey to Pench National Park
Today is set aside as a dedicated travel day, giving us the chance to slow down, enjoy the journey, and take in the changing landscapes as we make our way to Pench National Park.
There’s no need to rush — we’ll depart at a comfortable time and enjoy a gentle, scenic drive through the heart of central India. Along the way, we’ll stop for a relaxed lunch at a local eatery, offering a taste of regional cuisine and a break to stretch our legs. The route itself is part of the experience, passing through rural villages, forests, and open countryside that offer occasional glimpses of daily life and natural beauty.
Upon arrival at our lodge near Pench, you’ll have time to settle in, unwind, and prepare for the adventures ahead in this stunning new location — home to rich biodiversity and yet another chance to encounter tigers and other wildlife in a completely different setting.

Accommodation: Lodge near Pench National Park on a full board basis
Day 6 – Full-Day Exploration of Pench National Park
After yesterday’s rest and scenic transfer, today is fully devoted to discovering the rich wildlife and captivating landscapes of Pench National Park.

Pench’s dry deciduous forests, dominated by teak and other native flora, create a unique and photogenic backdrop for wildlife viewing. The park is renowned for its thriving tiger population, but it is also home to a wide range of other iconic species. Sightings often include leopards, dholes (Indian wild dogs), gaur (Indian bison), sambar, chital (spotted deer), wild boar, and sloth bears. If we’re lucky, we may even encounter rarer inhabitants such as the jungle cat or the elusive small Indian civet.
Pench is also a haven for bird watchers. Among the more striking avian residents are the Malabar pied hornbill, grey-headed fish eagle, Indian pitta, and the impressive king vulture.
With its diverse wildlife, open vistas, and exceptional birdlife, Pench offers a day rich in photographic potential and unforgettable encounters with the wild.
Accommodation: Lodge near Pench National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning and afternoon tiger safari
Day 7 – A New Safari Perspective & Optional Cultural or Birding Activities
Much the same as Day 3, this morning, we embark on another exciting tiger safari — this time entering Pench through a different gate, offering a fresh perspective and new photographic opportunities compared to the previous day.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to relax at the lodge and unwind, or, for those eager to explore more, we can arrange a cultural visit to a nearby village or a local birding excursion for a change of pace and scenery.
Accommodation: Lodge near Pench National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning safari and optional afternoon activities
Day 8 - Final Safaris in Pench: Ending on a High Note
Today marks our final two tiger safaris — and we’re aiming to go out with a bang! Just like Day 6, the day is fully dedicated to exploring the breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity of Pench National Park. With its golden teak forests, open meadows, and abundant wildlife, Pench continues to offer fresh photographic opportunities and surprises around every corner. This is our last chance to capture powerful wildlife moments — perhaps a final tiger sighting, a dramatic bird in flight, or a peaceful scene bathed in the morning light.

Fun fact: Pench’s beauty and wilderness famously inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. As you journey through its wild heart, it’s easy to see why — the sights and sounds feel like a living storybook.
These closing drives are often the most meaningful, as we reflect on the incredible encounters and images we’ve gathered over the past week.
Accommodation: Lodge near Pench National Park on a full board basis
Activities: Morning and afternoon tiger safari
Day 9 - Departure
Later on in the night, around midnight, we’ll transfer to the airport for your early morning flight home — carrying with you not just photographs, but unforgettable memories of India’s wild heart.
Due to the time difference and our eastward travel, we’ll be flying against the clock — meaning you can expect to arrive home on the very same day, even after a long journey.
Please Note:
The itinerary above is based on flights between London and Nagpur operated by Qatar Airways. Your flights may differ depending on your departure location, airline, or schedule. We strongly recommend getting in touch with us before booking so we can help align your travel plans with the itinerary and ensure a smooth experience throughout.
What To Expect
What to bring (this will not be provided by your host)
Your photographic equipment - check recommendations
Any medication you may need for the duration of the tour.
Unless there is a huge downpour, we will still continue to photograph in the rain as this can produce amazing photos.
Please bring what you would consider to be suitable clothing. Of course, no one will be forced to be in the rain, if they don't want to be.
Optional: Monopod
Walking during the workshop
There isn't much walking when we're snapping photos of wildlife from a vehicle. The only time you'll need to stretch your legs a bit is during scheduled stops. These areas are fenced off and are equipped with VERY basic toilets. Although you should remain attent and cautious, these are are generally safe. A good pair of shoes is enough as you won't be expected to hike anywhere.
Transportation
Transportation to and from the reserves are included.
Food
All melas are catered for. However, it is important that you tell us about any allergies or preferences that you have as soon as possible. The food is delicious, but not everyone will think so, therfore give us plenty of time to see what can be done. While "Deli-Belly" is a real concern for many we will insist on bottled water where we can and will stay away from foods that we have (in our experience) found to be the most likely to give us problems.
IMPORTANT: Any allergies and special requirements need to be advised and arranged prior to departure.
Photographic Experience
Whatever your knowledge and experience, you are welcome! All levels of photography are catered for, and your photographic host is available to you all the time throughout this trip.
IMPORTANT
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any wildlife photography tour or workshop arranged by Focused On Wildlife (or our partners). Please ensure you have a comprehensive policy in place before departure. We recommend choosing a reputable provider you already trust, with cover that includes medical emergencies, cancellations, and delays.
Equipment Insurance
Your camera gear is one of your most valuable investments. On our tours, you may be travelling into remote and sometimes unpredictable environments, where accidents, loss, or theft can occur. It’s essential that your photographic equipment is properly insured before you travel.
Wildlife photography often involves capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. By insuring your kit, you’ll have peace of mind that, should the unexpected happen, you’re protected financially. This allows you to stay focused on what really matters: immersing yourself in nature and bringing home unforgettable images.
