What To Expect
What to bring (this will not be provided by your host)
Your photographic equipment - check recommendations
Any medication you may need for the duration of the tour.
Unless there is a huge downpour, we will still continue to photograph in the rain as this can produce amazing photos.
Please bring what you would consider to be suitable clothing. Of course, no one will be forced to be in the rain, if they don't want to be.
Optional: Monopod
Walking during the workshop
There isn't much walking when we're snapping photos of wildlife from a vehicle. The only time you'll need to stretch your legs a bit is during scheduled stops. These areas are fenced off and are equipped with VERY basic toilets. Although you should remain attent and cautious, these are are generally safe. A good pair of shoes is enough as you won't be expected to hike anywhere.
Transportation
Transportation to and from the reserves are included.
Food
All melas are catered for. However, it is important that you tell us about any allergies or preferences that you have as soon as possible. The food is delicious, but not everyone will think so, therfore give us plenty of time to see what can be done. While "Deli-Belly" is a real concern for many we will insist on bottled water where we can and will stay away from foods that we have (in our experience) found to be the most likely to give us problems.
IMPORTANT: Any allergies and special requirements need to be advised and arranged prior to departure.
Photographic Experience
Whatever your knowledge and experience, you are welcome! All levels of photography are catered for, and your photographic host is available to you all the time throughout this trip.
IMPORTANT
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any wildlife photography tour or workshop arranged by Focused On Wildlife (or our partners). Please ensure you have a comprehensive policy in place before departure. We recommend choosing a reputable provider you already trust, with cover that includes medical emergencies, cancellations, and delays.
Equipment Insurance
Your camera gear is one of your most valuable investments. On our tours, you may be travelling into remote and sometimes unpredictable environments, where accidents, loss, or theft can occur. It’s essential that your photographic equipment is properly insured before you travel.
Wildlife photography often involves capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. By insuring your kit, you’ll have peace of mind that, should the unexpected happen, you’re protected financially. This allows you to stay focused on what really matters: immersing yourself in nature and bringing home unforgettable images.
